As you can see, the Realme X2 Pro seems to have an edge against the Redmi K20 Pro on paper. However, not everything about a smartphone can be judged by its spec sheet. Therefore, let’s take a deeper look into the differences and similarities between these two flagship killers.

Design and build quality

Both these flagship killers come with a premium glass sandwich design with Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The Redmi K20 Pro has a slightly smaller footprint than that of the Realme X2 Pro which is taller and a hairline wider than the K20 Pro. However, the Realme X2 Pro is slightly thinner than the K20 Pro measuring in at 8.7mm and 8.8mm respectively. Additionally, the Realme X2 Pro has a weight of 199 grams whereas the Redmi K20 Pro weighs 191 grams.

Of course, both devices also have an aluminum frame for enhanced durability. Neither of the two devices comes with official IP water and dust resistance rating. Although, the Redmi K20 Pro does have P2i nanocoating that makes it resistant to splashes. Nevertheless, we’d recommend not submerging either of the two devices under any liquid.

The Realme X2 Pro has a teardrop notch which houses the 16MP front-facing camera. On the other hand, the Redmi K20 Pro has a 20MP motorized pop-up selfie camera. Therefore, it has a cleaner overall look from the front and looks a lot more futuristic. Fortunately, the notch on the Realme X2 Pro isn’t intrusive at all, thanks to its small footprint.

Both smartphones are equally well designed and there’s no clear winner when it comes to the build and design. The Redmi K20 Pro has an uninterrupted display thanks to the pop-up camera and it also has P2i splash resistance. However, the Realme X2 Pro strikes right back with a slightly bigger display and an ever so slightly thinner body.

As you might have noticed from the spec sheet above, the Realme X2 Pro comes with the latest Snapdragon 855+ SoC whereas the Redmi K20 Pro packs in the regular SD 855. Of course, the newer chipset does offer improved performance. Additionally, the Realme X2 Pro comes with UFS 3.0 storage, albeit, only in the 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB models.

This gives the Realme X2 Pro an edge over its competition, i.e, the K20 Pro. In this case, we’re confident that the Realme X2 Pro is the better choice amongst the two. However, before you quit reading and go ahead to purchase the X2 Pro, there’s more you need to know.

Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro performance

While Realme’s flagship has a clear advantage over the K20 Pro, it does not mean the Xiaomi flagship killer is any slouch. After all, the Snapdragon 855 is found on several flagship smartphones launched this year. This means that the K20 Pro can handle just about everything you can throw at it.

Be it PUBG Mobile or any other CPU/GPU intensive app, the Redmi K20 Pro can run it without breaking a sweat. Of course, you might notice a slight difference when comparing both devices at the same time. However, the difference between completing tasks might only be a couple of seconds or less.

Where the Realme X2 Pro has a clear advantage is with its 90Hz high-refresh-rate display. The K20 Pro has a standard 60Hz screen and you can definitely notice the difference between a 90Hz and 60Hz panel. This even makes the X2 Pro seem a lot smoother than the K20 Pro. The Realme X2 Pro also supports a peak brightness of 1000 nits.

Flagship Killers Camera Comparison

This is where things get really interesting between the Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro. The X2 Pro comes with a quad-camera setup. It includes a 64-megapixel primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture. Next, we have a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with a 5x hybrid zoom followed by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Lastly, there is a 2MP depth sensor.

On the other hand, the K20 Pro has a triple camera setup. This includes a 48-megapixel primary lens with an f/1.8 aperture. Then we have an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom followed by a 13MP ultra-wide lens.

It’s worth noting that the 20x hybrid zoom claim on the Realme X2 Pro by the company should be taken with a grain of salt. This is because of the fact that the device supports only 5x hybrid zoom and then crops in all the way digitally. Nevertheless, thanks to the 64MP camera on the Realme X2 Pro, there is a noticeable difference in details when zoomed in 100% on both phones.

Both devices shoot equally good images from what we’ve seen. The higher megapixel count on Realme’s flagship does produce some stunning images with a ton of detail. However, this only holds up in well-lit situations. The K20 Pro does not have a bad camera by any means. It too can capture some fantastic images thanks to its 48MP primary sensor.

Additional features

Both the Realme X2 Pro and Redmi K20 Pro have some additional features that are worth mentioning. We’ll begin by talking about battery life and charging speed. This is where the Realme X2 Pro blows out even smartphones priced twice as high when it comes to charging speed. Thanks to its 52W SuperVOOC Flash charging support, the Realme X2 Pro can go from 0% to 100% in under 35 minutes. This makes it one of the fastest charging smartphones currently available.

Realme X2 Pro fast charging

Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 Pro also supports fast charging. However, its maxed out at 27W. Additionally, the Realme X2 Pro comes with the 52W charger within the box. That’s a sweet deal considering you have to purchase the 27W charger separately for the K20 Pro. Both devices have the same battery size as well. However, the Realme X2 Pro might drain the battery faster due to the 90Hz display. Although, you have the option to toggle between 90Hz and 60Hz.

The Redmi K20 Pro does not have any additional features worth mentioning off. Both devices do not come with an SD card slot, therefore, you will have to say goodbye to expandable storage. Surprisingly, both smartphones do come with a 3.5mm audio jack. Although, an area where the Redmi K20 Pro might be better is with the OEM skin. Xiaomi’s MIUI skin over Android has a ton of useful features and it does feel a lot more polished than Realme’s Color OS.
